Tiptana, LLC was founded in June 2015 to provide angel/seed and early-stage venture capital in support of entrepreneurs and their visionary technology firms. Target investments span the entire Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sector with specific interest in the Cloud, IT Services, Media Tech, SaaS, Digital Advertising, and Security segments.
Tiptana’s investment criteria are simple and focused on three key elements: market opportunity, competitive differentiation and the management team. Naturally, we’re interested in companies that have targeted large and growing market opportunities. Beyond the market opportunity, we spend a lot of energy identifying companies with a clear, compelling technology-based competitive differentiation. Finally and most elusively, we look for entrepreneurs with that rare combination of vision, motivation and execution skills in whom we feel we can invest to help create long-term, extraordinary value. Tiptana provides a combination of consultative, advisory, mentor and board services on behalf of firms active in the TMT sector.

Eric has more than 30 years of broad business experience including 20 years creating > $2.2B in enterprise value as a CEO & Board member leading four companies in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sector, Tandberg Television, Internap, Snell Advanced Media (SAM) and The Switch. His experience spans public-company as well as, private-equity backed portfolio company CEO roles delivering an average 79% enterprise value CAGR. In each case, Eric employed a ‘simplify, focus, act’ management philosophy to turn around struggling businesses, spur organic growth and create exceptional value.
Throughout his career, Eric has successfully leveraged the analytical skills from his engineering/science background (nuclear engineering & molecular genetics) with a simple passion for technology and strong interpersonal/communication skills to drive profitable growth. With success in roles as diverse as a US Naval Nuclear Engineering Officer, TMT-sector CEO and angel investor, Eric's ability to support the startup entrepreneur as an advisor, mentor or board member is clear. As an active angel investor, Eric seeks entrepreneurs with the vision and the drive to do what it takes to build exceptional value in their high-technology startup.
Eric received post graduate education in Nuclear Engineering as an Officer in the U.S. Navy and holds a BS Molecular Genetics from the University of Rochester and an MBA (Finance/Entrepreneurship) from the University of Southern California.
